RESIDENCES

Professional residential lighting refers to the lighting of residential areas, that is, areas where people reside. It refers to the lighting of residential buildings ( blocks of flats, family houses, holiday homes, hotels, … ) and the lighting of access zones to residential buildings ( access roads and driveways, parking lots, gardens, parks, … ) and also the zones where exteriors and interiors meet ( the lighting of balconies, terraces, porches, … ). Residential lighting has to satisfy the needs of functionality, aesthetics, and safety. Functionality is emphasized through types of lighting ( general lighting, additional lighting, functional, accent, and decorative lighting, lighting of architecture, and safety lighting ), and through ways of managing the lighting installation ( classic installation, addressable lighting, light intensity regulation, dynamic colour shift, … ). The lighting aesthetics should aesthetically harmonize the light design with the architectural whole of the ambiance. By its lighting effect, professional lighting positively influences human health, and does not threaten it. Of particular importance are the colour of light, contrast, glare level, absence of flickering. A selection of energy-efficient lighting solutions can considerably reduce electricity consumption in such areas.
